welcome to
kr's nano page
on this page, I will collect pointers to explanations and research
projects which document the progress of research towards what is
called molecular nanotechnology, or more narrowly, molecular
manufacturing.
the items which can be found here by no means attempt comprehensive
coverage of the fast growing nano field(s). rather, it is a collection
of some of the things i like, combined with my personal views and
opinions. i'll add things as i encounter them.
for a start, let me just point to the following:
- Steps
Towards Molecular Manufacturing. A discussion of design rules for
molecular building blocks (MBBs). This article has been restructured a bit,
to hopefully improve readability on the www. Each paragraph has a name
anchor, so that people can refer to specific points made in this small
treatise.
- CavityStuffer.
An experimental program for folding polymer design. I am finally releasing
this thing for adventurous hackers.
- Constructing Molecular Machinery.
John Michelsen
has some interesting ideas on how to use organic chemistry and a
functionalized AFM in progress towards molecular
manufacturing. Included are variations of the MBB idea which could
simplify the implementation.
other www nanotech resources
some of the canonical nanotech sites are:
The Foresight Institute
The Institute for Molecular Manufacturing
Ralph Merkle's site at Xerox PARC
